About

A Collective: A group of artists who work together toward a common goal or action, while creating a working mechanism for the benefit of a specific agenda, the daily lives of the group, and to the economic possibilities that present themselves to them. Every collective maps out its own route to self-definition and carves out a unique presence in the public domain.

WE aims to bring together a diverse range of collectives that span the full spectrum of creativity in order to showcase the faces, stories and methodologies that led to the consolidation of the collective. By mapping out and defining the process by which a collective is created and functions, we will also try to look ahead—toward opportunities and challenges that may arise in the future.

The Jerusalem Season of Culture, together with the "fragrant" Nose collective, are holding a summit for artists who have chosen to work together in Jerusalem, Israel or internationally. Collectives will gather in the city for a series of personal and joint actions that will unfold in different creative environments. We invite the public to join us, observe, respond and explore the possibilities presented by this fascinating tapestry of communal action for both the individual and society as a whole.

From August 22-23, Jerusalem's veteran Hansen House, with its dozens of rooms, will turn into a rich and multifaceted festi-conference: a vibrant festival which will run in tandem with a summit-style conference. The conference will provide an open forum through which the collectives will be able to exchange ideas, share creative initiatives, draw inspiration and prepare the ground for potential cooperation in the future.

Local and international delegates will present their creative portfolios, discuss, sing, meet, question, contemplate, speculate, and primarily share a common agenda in transient territory.

During the daytime hours the groups will discuss, debate, meet and take part in workshops, and by night, drink, unwind, sweat and above all celebrate the fact that we are all still breathing.

This inaugural summit is slated to be the first of a multi-year annual tradition—inshalla.
